Community Leaders Matched with School Leaders for All Hands Raised’s Annual Principal for Almost a Day

Keynote Luncheon Panel to Discuss the Challenges of Equipping our Students for Careers in Oregon
Tomorrow, Thursday, October 23rd, more than 100 leaders representing the private, public and nonprofit sectors will travel throughout Portland and Multnomah County to shadow a public school principal (or superintendent) in one of five districts (Centennial, David Douglas, Parkrose, Portland Public and Reynolds). In its 14th year, Principal for Almost a Day (PFAD) presented by Comcast, focuses on creating public-private partnerships to help raise awareness and resources in support of local schools.
From the “morning bell” through school lunch, PFAD participants are welcomed as honorary principals spending time gaining a first-hand experience by interacting with students, faculty, teachers and parents. PFAD is one of the ways All Hands Raised works with partners to develop a deeper understanding of how to support our students and our schools and improve collective practices that influence sustained improvements in educational outcomes for all children and youth in Multnomah County.
Following a morning at the school, participants will gather at Warner Pacific College’s McGuire Auditorium (2219 SE 68th Ave.) for a luncheon where a keynote panel, moderated by Emi Donis, VP, COO and Deputy General Counsel, Precision Castparts Corp., will discuss the connection between our schools, our community and the pathways to careers. Panelists include senior representatives from Comcast, Kaiser Permanente, Manufacturing 21 and the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters.
Following is a sample of some of the matches. If you are interested in covering one of these visits, or participating in the event, please contact Jeanie-Marie Price at 503-234-5404 or 971-207-9269.
