Happy Holidays from All Hands Raised

Posted on December 29, 2016 in CEO Updates

Dear Friends –

At a recent gathering, Carmen Rubio, All Hands Raised Board Member and Executive Director of Latino Network, said “Children cannot be what they cannot see.” Through an elaborate collaboration with many of you, the All Hands Raised Partnership works with schools and community partners to create systems where children are able to see what they can be.

Our community’s shared work is having an impact (see more of our shared progress here):

  • Fifteen percentage point increase in on-time graduation rates across our six partner districts since 2010 — more kids are prepared to continue on their education and career path.
  • Since 2010, the number of students of color suspended or expelled has dropped by 37 percent — schools and partners are finding alternative ways to support positive behavior and address systemic inequities.
  • Four percentage point increase in the number of local students completing the FAFSA financial aid application since last year — the coordinated efforts of our schools and partners are putting more students on the path to college and careers.

These are just a few examples of our community-wide progress. Please support this innovative work to care for all of our kids. Because of you, we continue to make progress, especially for those we have chronically failed — kids of color and kids in poverty.

In Gratitude,
Dan Ryan
